R.K. Devon has been in love with romance novels ever since her older sister "accidentally" slipped one into her reading pile when she was in middle school. Now that she's achieved her own storybook romance, she delights in writing happily ever afters for her characters (after making them work for it, of course).

Shelf Indulgence began with a love for romance and a longing for something that didn’t yet exist in our city—a bookstore where stories of love, passion, and joy weren’t tucked away on a back shelf, but celebrated front and center.

As a lifelong reader and book lover, I dreamed of creating a space that felt like stepping into your favorite story: warm, inclusive, and full of heart. A place where the romance genre—so often dismissed despite its emotional depth and cultural impact—could take up space unapologetically.

But more than that, I wanted to build a community.
