Through our Community Care Program, we’re turning that love outward—supporting local families who need a little extra help this season.

We’re partnering with our neighbors and readers to make sure no one in Tacoma has to choose between comfort and necessity.

Every month, Shelf Indulgence sponsors one Tacoma-area family facing hardship. With the help of donations from our readers (matched dollar-for-dollar by the store), we provide a package of essentials and small joys—groceries, hygiene items, baby care, and a few comforts that remind them they’re not alone.

    Anyone in the Tacoma area can be nominated - including yourself.

    You don’t need to be affiliated with an organization or provide paperwork.

    Just tell us who could use some extra care and what kind of help would make the biggest difference right now.

    Submissions stay confidential and are reviewed directly by our team.

  • We Connect & Coordinate

    Once a nomination is received, our team reaches out—either directly to the family (if permission is given) or through the nominator—to confirm what’s needed most.

    We tailor support to each situation: groceries, hygiene supplies, diapers, or gift cards for flexibility.

  • Community Care in Action

    Each month, Shelf Indulgence sponsors one family in full, matching every dollar donated by our readers.

    We assemble and distribute care packages, post transparent monthly impact updates, and restock our free Grab Bags of Essentials so no one leaves empty-handed.

    Your donations fund groceries, hygiene kits, and care packages for local families—and Shelf Indulgence matches every dollar (up to a monthly cap) to double the impact.

    You can help by:

    • Giving monetarily: Donate online or in-store.
    • Dropping essentials: Food, diapers, formula, and hygiene items welcome anytime.
    • Providing gift cards: Safeway, Target, or WinCo cards let families choose what they most need.

    Local businesses, book clubs, and community groups can make a big difference by hosting small food or hygiene drives.

    We’ll provide signage, social graphics, and collection bins—just choose your focus (food, baby care, or hygiene) and set your own timeline.
