Refund & Return Policy — Shelf Indulgence

At Shelf Indulgence, we take great care in curating our inventory and fulfilling orders accurately. Please review the policy below before making a purchase, as placing an order with us constitutes acceptance of these terms.


Returns & Exchanges (In-Store and Online)

We accept returns or exchanges on eligible, non-preorder books within 14 days of purchase, under the following conditions and at our discretion:

  • Item must be unused, unread, and in resalable condition

  • Original receipt or order confirmation is required

  • Returns may be refunded to the original form of payment or issued as store credit

The following items are final sale and non-returnable:

  • Preorders

  • Special orders

  • Sale or discounted items

  • Signed or personalized books

  • Mystery items, blind dates, or curated bundles

  • Event tickets or workshop registrations

  • Digital downloads

  • Gift cards

  • Merchandise (unless defective)


Preorder Policy (Final Sale)

All preorders are final sale.

Placing a preorder secures inventory ordered and allocated specifically based on preorder quantities, often tied to publisher campaigns, limited print runs, or exclusive incentives.

Preorders cannot be canceled, refunded, or exchanged except in rare cases of:

  • Publisher cancellation

  • Significant printing or fulfillment delays outside our control

If such circumstances arise, customers will be contacted directly with next steps.


Local Pickup & Hold Policy (Preorders and Special Orders)

If you select local pickup, the following hold terms apply:

Paid Preorders or Special Orders

  • Held for 14 days from the date you are notified the item is ready for pickup

  • After 14 days without pickup or communication, the order will be refunded via store credit, and the item will be reshelved

Unpaid Special Orders

  • Held for 7 days from notification

  • After 7 days without pickup or communication, the item will be reshelved and made available for purchase

We are always happy to extend a hold with communication. Please contact us if you need additional time.


Sale Items & Promotions

Items purchased during a sale or promotional period are final sale unless otherwise explicitly stated.

We do not offer price adjustments on prior purchases.


Price Adjustments & Return-and-Repurchase Policy

Shelf Indulgence does not allow price adjustments or return-and-repurchase behavior to obtain retroactive discounts.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Purchasing an item at full price and later attempting to repurchase it at a discount while returning the original

  • Placing multiple orders to exploit promotional pricing

  • Requesting refunds or credits based on later sales or promotions

Such actions are considered policy abuse and may result in:

  • Denial of refund or return requests

  • Cancellation of duplicate or subsequent orders

  • Restriction or refusal of future purchases

All pricing is honored as displayed at the time of purchase.


Damaged or Incorrect Orders

If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us at contact@shelfindulgence.store within 7 days of delivery and include:

  • Your order number

  • A description of the issue

  • Photos of the damage or incorrect item

We will work with you to resolve the issue through replacement, store credit, or refund where appropriate.


Lost or Delivered Packages

Once an order is marked as delivered by the carrier, responsibility transfers to the recipient.

If a package is marked delivered but cannot be located, we recommend:

  • Checking with household members or neighbors

  • Allowing 24–48 hours, as carriers may pre-scan deliveries

  • Contacting the carrier directly to file a claim

Shelf Indulgence is not responsible for lost or stolen packages once delivery is confirmed.


Refusal of Service

Shelf Indulgence reserves the right to refuse service, cancel orders, or limit purchasing privileges for customers who repeatedly violate store policies, engage in abusive behavior, or attempt to circumvent pricing or return guidelines.
